"Hellooo, I haven't seen you for a few days,
what have you been up to recently?"
今日は白浜生まれの秋浜の訓練をしました。
「久しぶりだね！ここ数日どこに行っていたの？」
毎日成都パンダ基地には行っているのですが、
検疫所は毎日入ることは出来ないんです。
Today we had to train ShuHin to go inside a small cage
which we use to move him to other enclosures.
The Pandas that were born in Chengdu are used to it
because they have to move enclosures from when
they are young, but the four Japan born brothers
are not trained well to go inside the cage.
ShuHin was crying out loud when he saw the cage
because he had a bad feeling that he might be kept in
the cage for a long time. He sat back far away from us.
成都パンダ基地では、パンダを他のエリアに
移動する際小さなケージに入れて車で
運ぶのですが、日本生まれのパンダ達は
ケージに入るのに慣れていないため
とても時間がかかるんです。移動させたい時に
すぐにケージに入ってくれるよう、今日から
訓練をはじめました。成都パンダ基地生まれの
パンダ達は、幼い頃からケージに入って
移動をするのに慣れているため、簡単に入ってくれます。
日本生まれの雄浜、隆浜、秋浜は
なかなか言うことを聞いてくれません。
（幸浜だけは食べ物を目当てにすぐに入ってくれます）
今日は秋浜にケージを見せただけで、
大きな声で鳴き始めました。
入ったら出られなくなるのではないかと
心配しているようでした。
"Do I have to do this? I don't think it's a good idea"
「これ、どうしてもやらないといけないの？
あまり気が進まないなぁ。」
ShuHin looked so upset.
秋浜は、ケージを見てションボリしています。
"NOOOOO, I don't want to go inside the cageeee!"
「入りたくないよ～！！！」
He sat on his weighing scale to show that he is a good boy.
「僕、ちゃんと体重計にも乗るよ？良い子だよ？
だから、やらなくても良い？」
He started to drink some water.
水を飲んで気分を落ち着けているようです。
And ate some bamboo to keep calm.
竹も少し食べてみました。
This is the cage that we used to train ShuHin.
We have to train ShuHin in several steps.
Today was his first day for the training, and
we just wanted him to understand that going inside
the cage is safe and that he would not be harmed.
The second step would be to make him go inside
and eat the Panda Cake inside the cage.
Next we will try to keep him inside longer,
and then we are hoping that in a few weeks
he will eventually sleep inside the cage.
It's important that he understands
he is not in danger.
秋浜がすんなりケージに入るようになるには、
何段階かの訓練が必要です。
今日ははじめてのトレーニングだったため、
まずはケージに入っても害がないということを
わかってもらううために、大好物のパンダケーキを
ケージの奥側に置いてみました。次はパンダケーキを
ケージの中で安心して食べられるように訓練し、
最終的にはケージの中で安心して眠れるように
します。ケージに入っても悪いことがおきない
ことを理解してもらうことが重要です。
ShuHin watched carefully while the keeper, Li Han
prepared for the training.
"Oh NOOOOO!"
飼育員のLi Hanがケージを固定している間、
秋浜は鳴きながら見ていました。
「いやだよ～、やりたくないよ～。」
時々手を出して邪魔をしようとしています。
We put a Panda Cake on the bars
to see if ShuHin comes inside the cage.
But instead of coming inside the cage,
he climbed the cage and sat on top of it.
"How can I possibly get my Panda Cake??"
パンダケーキをケージの奥に置いてみました。
すると、ケージに入らずに登って上から
見下ろしています。
「このパンダケーキ、どうやって取れば良いの？？」
He comes close to remind us that he doesn't
understand what to do.
「ねーねー、本当にどうすれば良いの？
僕、すごくお腹がすいているんだけど」
ShuHin wanted the Panda Cake but was
walking and climbing on the cage for a while
to see how he could get his Panda Cake.
どうやってパンダケーキに辿り着けば良いのか
わからず、しばらく歩き回ったりケージに登って
いる秋浜。
Finally he realized that he should go inside the cage.
But we can see he has his hind legs outside.
He knows that if he comes inside easily, we would
close the cage. He's a clever boy.
ケージに入ればパンダケーキが
食べられることが理解出来た秋浜は、
ようやくケージに入りました。
それでも、足だけは外に出したままです。
完全に入るとドアを閉められてしまうことも
わかっているようです。
ケージに入っても大丈夫かどうか、
何度も入ったり出たりします。
（足だけはずっと出したままですが・・・）
He got his Panda Cake, and ate it with his body
half way inside.
ケージの奥にあるパンダケーキをつかむと、
体半分だけ中に入ったまま食べてみます。
いつでも逃げられる体勢を保っています。
The training has just begun, and I hope to
see ShuHin going inside the cage easily while
I am here.
訓練は今日始まったばかり。
私が成都にいる間に何回か訓練を繰り返すうちに
すんなりケージに入ってくれるようになることを願っています。
