care of RyuHin (LongBang). RyuHin was in his
outside den, far away where visitors cannot see him.
RyuHin was born in 2003, and his twin brother is
ShuHin (QiuBang). The twins came to Chengdu
in 2007 to participate in the breeding program.
今朝は2003年白浜生まれの隆浜の飼育をしました。
隆浜は屋外運動場の、観光客からは見えない
遠いところにいました。隆浜は秋浜の双子の兄で、
2頭は2007年に繁殖の目的で成都パンダ基地にやってきました。
This is the "Superman" keeper at Chengdu Panda Base,
Li Han. He is the one that taught me how to
take care of Pandas and the important things
I should know in order to do the keepers work.
He is very professional and I respect his work.
成都パンダ基地のスーパーマン飼育員 Li Han です。
パンダの飼育に関する大切なことは、全て彼が
教えてくれました。彼の仕事に対する真面目な
姿勢からは日々学ぶことが多く、最近では何でも
相談出来る良き友人でもあります。
忙しいのにパンダだけでなく、私の面倒も良く見てくれるんです。
This is RyuHin's enclosure after being cleaned.
Carrying out all the left over bamboo, collecting and
weighing the feces, watering and drying the whole area
is hard work, especially when the weather is hot
and humid. We cleaned all the windows today
so that the visitors can see RyuHin better.
隆浜の室内運動場。
食べ残した竹を運びだし、糞を集め重さを量り、
水で全体を綺麗にして乾かします。この季節、
暑くて湿度が高いとサウナで身体を動かしているような
感じです。今日は窓もすべてキレイに洗いました。
This is RyuHin in the afternoon.
In the morning, he was enjoying his private life
in his outside den. In the afternoon,
he came back for his favorite drink.
午後の隆浜。
結局午前中一杯は屋外運動場でのんびり
過ごしていたようです。午後になると
大好きな栄養ドリンクをもらいに
室内に戻ってきました。私たちが
見に行った時にはすでに待ち構えていました。
RyuHin also does the "nose between bars",
just like his other Japan born brothers.
"HELLLOOO, please say Hi to my fans in
Japan!"
柵の間から鼻を出すお得意のポーズを
とってくれました。白浜4兄弟は皆この
ポーズが得意です。お父さんの永明に
似て鼻が長く、柵から出しやすいのかも
しれませんね。
「日本の僕のファンの人たちによろしく
伝えてね！」
This is RyuHin's favorite drink.
It's a mixture of glucose and some medicines
to keep him fit. RyuHin doesn't like to eat his
Panda Cakes, and therefor we give him
a special drink.
隆浜の大好きな栄養ドリンク。
ブドウ糖とお薬を混ぜた特製ドリンクです。
隆浜は他のパンダ達と違って、
パンダケーキをあまり食べてくれません。
そのためこのドリンクで栄養をつけて
もらうんです。大好きな栄養ドリンクを、
ゆっくり時間をかけて楽しんでいました。
幸浜だったら一瞬で飲み終わって
しまうのでしょうけれど・・・。
RyuHin has become more handsome than
before with his eyepatch color beginning to
recover.
目の周りの毛が抜け替わり、
最近ますますハンサムになってきた隆浜。
最近はキレイ好きになってきたらしく、
水をかけてあげると顔を洗うような
仕草もします。おかげで顔の白い毛が
以前よりキレイになってきました。
The good thing about RyuHin is that
he likes eating bamboo. Li Han told me
that RyuHin likes Muzhu, the type of
bamboo that grows especially in this season.
隆浜は、パンダケーキをあまり
食べない代わりに、竹をよく食べます。
今の季節の竹が好物らしいです。
太い部分も上手に固いところを
取り除いてバリバリ食べています。

団体の観光客の方達が喜んで写真を撮っていたら、
隆浜、突然どうしたら良いかわからなくなって困ってしまいました。
恥ずかしがり屋の隆浜は、ゆっくりと屋外運動場に
歩いて行ってしまいました。
RyuHin walks around in his outside den,
sometimes looking up to the tourists.
屋外運動場で歩き回る隆浜。
時々観光客を見上げてポーズをとってくれました。
私の前でもポーズ。
After the tourists leave, he gets ready to take a nap.
一通りサービスをしたところでお昼寝の時間です。
いつもこの姿勢で寝ています。
Li Han calls this wheelbarrow a "BMW".
飼育員のLi Hanは、この二輪車を「BMW」と
呼んでいます。重い糞や竹を運ぶのに
成都パンダ基地内で大活躍のBMWです。
BingDian lives in No. 14 next to RyuHin,
but he never came close today. Whenever we try to
call him inside, he runs away and hides in a bush.

隆浜のお隣さん、ビンディアン。
今日は室内運動場に呼び戻そうとしても、
逃げて隠れてしまいました。
この写真は飼育員の休憩室から撮影しました。
BingDian was born in 2000.
His twin brother BingXin is in Zoo Madrid.
2000年生まれのビンディアンにはマドリッドに
双子の兄がいます。次回はもう少し
近くに来てくれると良いのですが・・・。
ここ2日、全く中に入ろうとしいないらしいです。
Today, I was hoping to take care of
KouHin (XingBang) too, but unfortunately
other keepers had to take care of him.
As I called his name in Japanese, he looks up and
responds.
今日は幸浜の飼育もする予定だったのですが、
他の飼育員達が仕事を済ませてしまいました。
夕方日本語で「こーひーん」と呼びかけると、
顔を上げて反応してくれました。
"Are you coming here to take care of me soon?"
「いつ僕の面倒を見に来てくれるの？」
"I'm so boared with nothing to do!"
「僕、やることがなくて退屈だよ！！」
KouHin has been sctratching his bed,
and we can see all the crumbs on the floor.
暇でやることがない幸浜は、
ベッドを引っ掻いていたみたいです。
木屑がベッドの下にたくさん
落ちているのが見えます。
木の別途が細くなってしまっています。
I will take care of KouHin on Sunday.
