YongYong @ Moonlight Nursery, CRBGPB

Today I went to the Moonlight Nursery
to take care of YongYong.
He's a handsome boy born in 2004
and is popular among Japanese Panda fans
because he was in the Panda film
"Pandaful Life".

He was sleeping on his bed in the morning
when I started to clean his enclosure.

It's fun cleaning the enclosures where I can
hear Pandas eating and sleeping around me.
This morning, we had lots of work to do.
Cleaning all the enclosures and cleaning all the windows,
preparing for the new cubs to be born soon.

Today it was too hot, and the Pandas stayed inside all day.
Visitors can only see WuYi ,YaZai, JiaoXiao and XiaoYaTou
at Moonlight when the Pandas have to stay inside.

YongYong got his ice at around 11.
He sits on his ice and licks it.

And bites on it.

And rolls around on it.
It's too hot, and he just can't stay away from his ice!

He sometimes stands up to see if he
can have some treats.

But in a few seconds, he goes back to his ice.

I wish someone gave me some ice too!

After cooling down for a while,
he started to eat bamboo.
"It's too hot to move around, but
I need bamboo to keep fit!"

This is Deng Tao and Liu Lei carrying
ice to all the Pandas here.

In the afternoon, the keeper Chen Xian
did some training for ErYaTou.
She makes ErYaTou stand up and
lie down to show her stomach. The keepers
do this training to most of the female Pandas,
so that when they are ready to become
a mother, they can examine the Pandas without
giving them anesthetic. ErYaTou is already a
well experienced mother, and she is well trained.
Chen Xian speaks to ErYaTou like a mother
talking to her child in a soft and kind way.

Chen Xian gives ErYaTou some treats
because she did very well today for the trainings.

This afternoon, the keepers were busy cleaning
the incubators they have at the Moonlight Nursery.
Now they are getting ready for the new born babies.
We never know the exact date of when the cubs will be
born, so we start to prepare at an early time.

This will be the room where new born babies will
be kept.

Tomorrow I will take care of RyuHin (LongBang) at the
No. 14 Enclosure.
