Today I went to No. 14 Enclosure to take care of
RyuHin (LongBang) and BingDian.
These two Pandas love staying in their outside
den and rarely come back inside
which makes it hard for us to clean their outside
den in the morning. Today it was very hot,
and they came back inside very early.
This barely happens, and we were lucky!
今日は隆浜とビンディアンの飼育をしました。
14号エリアに住んでいるこの2頭は
屋外運動場で過ごす時間が多く、
暑くなっても普段なかなか帰ってきてくれません。
何度呼んでも室内に戻ってきて
くれないため屋外運動場の掃除をするのも
大変なのですが、今日は2頭とも早い時間に
室内に戻ってきてくれました。
This is RyuHin. He was showing me how bored he was.
隆浜は、久しぶりに朝早くに室内に戻り
暇そうに寝ていました。
We called him to come for his favorite special drink.
"Hellloooooo, now I've become to like you more
because you give me my special drink!"
大好きな特製ドリンクをあげたところ、
飛び起きて近くまで来てくれました。
「おはよー。最近特製ドリンクくれるから
ねーさん結構好きになってきたよ！」
RyuHin took his time to enjoy his special drink.
いつも時間をかけてゆっくり特製ドリンクを
飲んでいます。
Most Pandas love their nutritious Panda Cakes,
but I hardly see RyuHin eating them.
But instead, RyuHin loves eating bamboo
which is good because bamboo is the best diet
for wild pandas. His feces always smell like
bamboo. It shows that he is healthy even
without eating Panda Cakes.
成都パンダ基地のパンダ達は、ほとんど皆
パンダケーキが大好きなのですが、隆浜は
まったく食べません。その代わり竹が大好きで
一日中良く食べています。野生のパンダは
パンダケーキを食べなくても元気に育ちますので、
ある意味自然の食生活に近いと言えます。
糞も竹の良い匂いがします。
We gave him a shower to keep him clean.
Whenever we give RyuHin a shower, he cleans his
own face with his paws which makes him white
and clean.
午前中に隆浜をシャワーで綺麗にしました。
最近シャワーをすると、いつも自分の手で
顔を洗うような仕草をしてくれます。
おかげで顔が最近白くなってきて
格好良くなってきたと評判です。
He looks smaller than usual after the Shower.
It's always the same with dogs too, especially when
they have fluffy fur just like pandas.
シャワーをすると、普段より一回り小さく見えます。
犬や他の動物と同じで、毛がペシャンコになるんですね。
He had some dirt on his back, but I couldn't
wash it away for him...Sorry RyuHin.
お尻の近くの毛に汚れが固まっていたのですが、
絡まっていてとってあげることが出来ませんでした。
ごめんね、隆浜。
"Thank you for the shower. Do I look handsome?"
「シャワーしてくれてありがとう。ハンサムになった？」
He became a bit angry because he was
kept inside the cage while we were
cleaning his enclosure.
"Get me out of here!!!"
室内運動場を掃除している間
隆浜をケージに入れたままにしていたのですが、
それが気に入らなかったようで暴れ始めました。
「出せーーーーーーーー！！」
"Hurry up and finish your work, I want to eat
some bamboo!"
「早く仕事終わらせて出して！竹食べたいんだよね」
After cleaning all the inside enclosures,
we gave him some fresh bamboo.
Pandas were carnivorous animals
8 million years ago, and even though
they only eat bamboo, apples and
Panda Cakes at the Panda Base,
80% of the things they eat come out as feces.
This is why Pandas eat a lot while they
are awake.
室内運動場を全て掃除し終えたところで
新鮮な竹をあげました。パンダは800万年前
肉食動物だったと言われていますが、
竹、リンゴ、パンダケーキしか食べない
現在でも消化器官が肉食動物の
ままなので食べたものの80%くらいは
糞となって消化されずに排泄されてしまいます。
だから起きている時間の大半を食事に費やすんです。
RyuHin smells each bamboo leaves
before he eats them. He is quite picky.
隆浜は、笹の葉を食べる時必ず
葉の匂いをかぎます。好き嫌いが
あるみたいです。気に入らないと
ポイっと投げ捨てて新しい竹をつかみます。
This is BingDian enjoying his breakfast.
隆浜の隣に住むビンディアンです。
"Yummy, apples are so tasty!"
「リンゴって美味しいね！」
"I love bamboo too!"
「笹も美味しいよね！」
"And I love Panda Cakes too!"
「パンダケーキも大好きだよ！」
BingDian is a clever boy, and he
waits for me to give him two Panda Cakes
at the same time. Even though I gave him
one Panda Cake, he kept his mouth wide
open to ask for one more.
Now he has two Panda Cakes in his mouth!
I've never seen other Pandas doing this.
ビンディアンは賢い子で、パンダケーキを
あげる時、1個を口に入れてあげても
口を開けたままもう1個貰えるのを
待ちます。一度に2個パンダケーキを
口に入れて嬉しそうにしていました。
He took one out of his mouth and
kept it in his right hand.
1個は口から出して、大切そうに
右手で持っていました。
We can see he is holding one Panda Cake
in his right hand and eating one on his left hand.
左手に持っているパンダケーキを先に食べ、
もう1個は右手に持って予備として楽しみに
しているみたいです。
"I love everything that I'm allowed to eat!"
「食べられるものは何でも大好き！」
Tomorrow I will go to Adult Area to
take care of KouHin (XingBang).
明日は成年パンダエリアで幸浜の飼育をします。
